On April 9, 2009 the Ontario Ministry of Environment approved a scrap tire management recycling plan developed by Ontario Tire Stewardship (OTS), an industry funded and not for profit tire group organization.
With this new plan, the first such in North America, beginning September 1, 2009 a Tire Stewardship Fee (TSF) will be charged on all new tire purchases in the province of Ontario. There will not be a TSF on retread
tire purchases. As we move forward, the TSF will be a separate billing item on invoice, including all national account new tire manufacturer invoices.
The Ontario Tire Stewardship will use the Tire Stewardship Fees (TSF) it collects to operate scrap tire management recycling program, including the collection, transporting and processing costs of used tires, including tire stockpiles. Therefore with the rollout of this new program, again on September 1, 2009
our fleet customers will no longer pay a casing disposal fee.

As of December 15, 2007 and following the acquisition of Canadian Treads in Ingersoll Ontario, Tiremaster Limited will have 2 plants producing the Michelin MRT product, effectively doubling the Michelin (MRT) retreading available in Ontario.
