How It Works
The re-torquing of the wheel nuts after a wheel has been reinstalled and driven is suggested by tire distributors and mechanical shops. This is to address any further movement due to rust or paint. A Safe-T-Loc is then pushed onto each wheel nut the same as a nut cover would. No tools are required. With the Safe-T-Loc system in place, the wheel nuts will not require any further attention. In the event a wheel nut starts to loosen the Safe-T-Loc will only allow movement up to 6% before it locks itself against the next Safe-T-Loc and the wheel nut is unable to back off any further. This represents approximately 45 Ft-Lb's of wheel nut torque being lost. A red indicator on the Safe-T-Loc becomes visible to alert there is a problem with the wheel nut or nuts. The Safe-T-Loc is capable of locking all 10 loose wheel nuts at once if required. Installation is approximately 2 minutes per wheel.
SAFE-T-LOC: Operator Awareness
A reflective product awareness decal is placed at the glad hand area of the trailer. This is to inform any operator hooking to your trailer that it is equipped with the Safe-T-Loc Wheel Nut Management System for his/her and the public's safety. It also instructs what he/she should be looking for during their pre/post trip inspections and what actions to take in the event of a flagged wheel nut. This decal will also create curiosity for the operators enticing them to perform their pre-trip inspections.
